The Alley 33 Fashion Event

This Fashion Show is about sustainability through local production. It is no secret that Portland has amazing apparel designers, but it is still an on-going effort to bring small production to the foreground as a palpable and qualified source for high fashion. We are curating over thirty designers with a wide array of garments from easy-fit casual wear to high couture. We celebrate Portland’s production designers, silk-screeners, up- cyclists, swimwear designers, dress makers, cobblers, and all of those who re-define fashion as we know it.

Why is it called, “Alley 33?”

What makes Alley 33 really stand out is its active occupation of an entire city street for the purposes of bringing Portland’s best designers directly to the public space. By building nearly a 60 foot run-way down the historic mural alley of 33rd ave, we present to our community a reason to celebrate local production. As more designers are signing onto our program, it is becoming more evident how special this event will be. It is the first of its kind, and Hawthorne is the perfect site for the collaborative efforts of those who define our cultural terrain through design and production.

Who are we presenting?

Over thirty designers from Portland, OR will be featured on our run way this year. These designers have looks that range casual easy fit, swimwear, lingerie, tailored, conceptual fashion, and high fashion. Our program merges themes of small production with experimental, high art fashion. We seek to inform our audience about as many facets of Portland design as emerge each year in a continually developing apparel design movement. From “upcycling” to new, locally sourced materials, as well as production teams working with new equipment and exciting processing techniques, we seek to present the broad spectrum of Port- land’s fashion industry.
